Sage Canyon Elementary is proud to be a part of Colorado's Douglas County School District, where parents are provided the opportunity to choose the educational environment and programming that best meets their child's needs. The mission of Sage Canyon is to foster a supportive and challenging school community that fuels a contagious spark for learning and recognizes students as unique individuals. Here at Sage Canyon, we use a Project Based Learning approach to create a solid foundation of fundamental and higher order thinking skills through structured curriculum that is consistent and aligned throughout the grade levels. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups. Because project-based learning is filled with active and engaged learning, it inspires students to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying. Research also indicates that students are more likely to retain the knowledge gained through this approach far more than through traditional textbook-centered learning. In addition, students develop confidence and self-direction as they move through both team-based and independent work.

JT Wish Week (For Donation Boxes) - Made with PosterMyWall.jpg

Wrangler Families,

Sage Canyon is partnering with our friends at Douglas County High School for Wish Week 2019! Each school year, the entire feeder area for Douglas County High School comes together for a great cause; to raise money to grant a wish for a child suffering from a terminal illness through a partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. This year we are all raising money for JT, a local boy living with liver cancer whose dream is to visit Hogwarts. As a community, our goal is to raise $50,000  to send JT and his family to Universal Studios to visit Hogwarts. We have lots of exciting ways you can get involved, show your support and raise money to make JT’s wish come true.

Spirit Week- To show your support, come to school dressed up for the week of January 28th-February 1st!

Monday - January 28th - Weasley Day (dress up as a duo/twin)

Tuesday - January 29th - Morning at Hogwarts (Pajama day)

Wednesday - January 30th - Quidditch Day (Sports Jersey Day)

Thursday - January 31st - Invisibility Cloak Day - (Camouflage - no face paint or weapons)

Friday - February 1st - Uniform Day -Wear school uniform attire - blazer, tie, plaid skirt, khakis, polo, etc.

Purchase A Wish Week T Shirt- Looking to get your hands on the limited edition Wish Week 2019 T Shirts all the high schoolers are wearing? Bring $10 to purchase your own at the School Store for the next 2 Fridays! Supplies/sizes are limited, so don’t wait! All proceeds go to fund JT’s Wish.

Make A Donation- Each classroom at Sage Canyon will be competing to raise the most money. The class who raises the most money will get to attend the Wish Week assembly on the morning of Monday, February 4th.  You may even get to meet JT at this amazing event! *All donations for the competition are due by noon on Friday, February 1st.

Eat Out- Each day, a different restaurant will be donating a portion of their sales to grant JT’s wish. Please see the attached flyer for a list of restaurants participating.

Please reach out if you have any questions. I cannot wait to see what our community will accomplish this year!
