Message - Superintendent Thomas Tucker

Superintendent Thomas Tucker participated in a call with Governor Polis last Friday. During that call, Governor Polis acknowledged remote learning for the remainder of the school year eliminates another transition for students.

The superintendent believed it was the best step to extend remote learning for the remainder of the school year. With this extended closure, Monday, April 6 will be a teacher planning day with no student assignments or classes.

Subject Areas/Content Focus

Language Arts

We are examining and evaluating different text structures. The students identify the author’s intent or purpose by the transitions they utilize in their writing.

Language Arts

The students are writing five-paragraph essays on topics on key individuals who made an impact on the cultural fabric of Colorado. It includes an introduction, three big ideas, and a conclusion.

The students are in the final process of editing and revising their final product.  The students are capitalizing proper nouns consistently. Likewise, they are identifying using correct usage with past, present, and future tense.

Math - Lopez

The students have been working on assorted topics in math.  We have examined and analyzed how fractions and decimals apply to understand our monetary system.  Likewise, we have revisited prior concepts on multiplication and division principles.

We participated in ways to conserve the precious resources of our planet.  The students were building their background knowledge of the ecosystem. By learning about the worlds’ environments, the kids were coming up with ways to prevent the deterioration of the Earth.

Social Studies

Colorado has many rich and fascinating stories. The events have contributed to the independent mindset of making our mark on history. For example, the early 1900s brought in modern conveniences to many families living in the Denver metro area. The things we take for granted, such as plumbing and electricity, started transitioning our majestic city into a place to raise a family for the longterm.

Reading Resources and Technology Apps

As a parent, I’m always looking for reading resources. When your nights are busy, it’s a great time to view a story online. An actor from the actor’s guild reads a story out loud.

After your child has finished reading a fantastic book, please encourage them to write a summary and review. They can read other students who wrote about their favorite novels.
