 Biography

Hi Sand Creek Families,

I am very excited to sing, dance, play instruments and create an appreciation of music with the students at Sand Creek Elementary. I have been teaching general music, choir and private lessons for six years here in Colorado. Originally, I am from upstate New York where I did my undergrad in Music Education and my masters in Vocal Performance. I am a believer in movement with music and I try to include as much movement as I can during lessons. Besides the arts I do love the outdoors. I ski in the winter and hike and camp during the warmer season. Being well rounded and open to trying new things is something I stress in my teaching. Students in elementary school should have the opportunity to do and try many activities. Music is great because it creates the opportunity to teach history, culture, math, science, language and physical movement along with it. At Sand Creek this year, besides general music, I plan on conducting choir for students in 3rd-6th and planning Best of Talent Day. I look forward to another great year at Sand Creek!

Cheers,

Maegan Petkash-Wodniak
