Meet Our Counselor

RachaelHello Sand Creek Families!

My name is Rachael Heflin, and I am the new School Counselor at Sand Creek Elementary!

I grew up in Issaquah, Washington and received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. Shortly after graduating, I moved to the Denver area where I explored career paths in different corporate management positions.

Ultimately, I decided to go back to what I was passionate about and obtain a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of Denver. I had the pleasure of completing my school counseling internship at an elementary school in Denver, but I am excited to begin my journey at Sand Creek Elementary!

I align my practice with ASCA’s recommendations, focusing on the domains of academic, career and social/emotional development. I enjoy working at the elementary level to help students learn proactive coping strategies and lifelong wellness practices.

I look forward to getting to know Sand Creek students personally and collaborating with our staff and parent community to ensure the success of each child at Sand Creek Elementary!

Sincerely,

Rachael Heflin
