Sage Canyon Elementary is proud to be a part of Colorado's Douglas County School District, where parents are provided the opportunity to choose the educational environment and programming that best meets their child's needs. The mission of Sage Canyon is to foster a supportive and challenging school community that fuels a contagious spark for learning and recognizes students as unique individuals. Here at Sage Canyon, we use a Project Based Learning approach to create a solid foundation of fundamental and higher order thinking skills through structured curriculum that is consistent and aligned throughout the grade levels. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a dynamic approach to teaching in which students explore real-world problems and challenges, simultaneously developing cross-curriculum skills while working in small collaborative groups. Because project-based learning is filled with active and engaged learning, it inspires students to obtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying. Research also indicates that students are more likely to retain the knowledge gained through this approach far more than through traditional textbook-centered learning. In addition, students develop confidence and self-direction as they move through both team-based and independent work.

Dear Families,

We deeply value our home/school connection, which is why we offer once monthly Saturday Coffees, once monthly Saturday Seminars, emails, phone calls, and home-visit options.  We believe in timely exchanges that promote student learning and accountability.  With that said, fall conferences are just around the corner and we are excited to meet with many of you and want to share a few options on how to continue to connect.  Please note, Blueprint will not be holding conferences the week of October 1st, like the rest of Sage Canyon as Mrs. McCoy and Ms. Vaughan will be in Monument Valley with Blueprint students.

We will be offering a limited amount of time slots on Tuesday, October 16th. If you feel you have seen or heard from us already and feel you have all the answers you need in regards to your child's current progress, you do not need to sign up.
We will continue the work of reaching out to you through the various options throughout the year.  Feel free to reach out to your child's build teacher anytime to ask questions or set up a time to chat in person or on the phone.

Thanks for all you do to support your children.  We are continuously humbled by our community.

Team BP
