Welcome! It is my pleasure to spend this fifth-grade year with your child, co-teaching our class with Ms. Bound. My educational experience includes thirty-three years of fifth & sixth-grade teaching in West Michigan and Colorado at both the elementary and middle school levels. As a parent, coach, youth leader, and active community member, my goal as an educator is to prepare your child with the academic, social, and emotional skills necessary to succeed with confidence in an ever-changing world. Lessons will include opportunities for students to employ critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. My craft will demonstrate connecting academic standards in relevant contexts to my students and their interests daily.
My interests outside of school include an abundance of outdoor activities including running, skiing, hiking, kayaking, camping, and traveling. I have an adult daughter who lives in New England.
I have lived in Colorado all of my life. I have a son who lives and works in Denver, and my daughter is currently working on her Master's in Social Work. We've been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places that have really opened my eyes to this beautiful world we live in! This is my 30th year of teaching, and I love it here at Sand Creek!
My name is Lisa Mitchell, and I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade at Sand Creek Elementary this fall. In previous classrooms, I taught both upper elementary and gifted & talented. When I’m not spending time with my daughter, who will be a junior in college, you can find me with friends and family, outside hiking, biking or taking photos!
