Hello! I student taught at Sand Creek during the 2008-2009 school year in 4th grade. I was fortunate to join the excellent SCE staff as a 4th grade teacher in 2013. I taught 4th grade for eight years before I took a year off to spend more time with my family and young children. When I returned to SCE, I jumped in as a 2nd-grade teacher and am loving this age group! Sand Creek is my home and the community here is one of a kind. When I am not teaching, I spend time with my beautiful daughters, Shelby and Charlie, and my husband Gary. We enjoy exploring outside, camping, boating, paddle boarding, off-roading, and traveling. I look forward to another wonderful school year.
My name is Cora Walrond, and I am SO excited to join Sand Creek Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher! I am moving to Colorado from Indiana this summer after spending my first year teaching in a private school setting. I can’t wait to start this new adventure in Colorado! I love going for walks, swimming, shopping, and exploring new places. I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and their families!! Go Eagles!
My name is Sophia Michelau and this is my fifth year at Sand Creek. I taught K-2 in Minnesota prior to taking a year off to travel around the US in an RV. I started at Sand Creek teaching second grade and have come to LOVE teaching grade level combination classrooms! Teaching has always been a huge passion of mine. I love building relationships with my students and helping them love learning by making it fun and engaging. My background is in Elementary Education, and I recently completed my Master's in Education with an emphasis in Culturally Responsive Teaching. In my free time, I love hiking, reading and exploring everywhere dog-friendly! I am excited to call Colorado home and be a part of the Sand Creek family.
