Hello! My name is Heather Palmer, and I am a 6th grade teacher here at Sand Creek. This is my 8th year teaching. Before I joined the team at Sand Creek, I taught at an international school in Morocco in 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade. My background is in Elementary Education, and I have a master's in Reading Education. I love to encourage learners to explore new texts and genres to find books they love. In my free time, I enjoy baking, exploring new places, and learning new things!

Andrea Skolout

My name is Andi Skolout and this will be my 7th year teaching sixth grade at Sand Creek. To say teaching is my passion is an understatement. As a child, I was always the teacher, and I always loved being in school. I have a 27-year-old son with my husband of 29 years. We have lived in Douglas County for 24 years, and I have been involved with this district as a parent and teacher. I fell in love with DCSD while volunteering in my son’s classrooms and decided I wanted to teach here. I am a BIG Colorado sports fan, but I am a die-hard Kansas Jayhawker. My husband and I come from Kansas and this is the only sports team I have not moved away from. Shawn and I love listening to live music, riding our motorcycles, and playing corn hole. I love to read, do word searches, walk, and snuggle with our miniature dachshund, Wishbone, and my grand fur-baby, Clair.

I love my position at Sand Creek as I prepare our students for their move into middle school. I am proud of the growth our students make not only academically, but in their maturity, social and emotional wellness, and awareness. Sixth grade is an amazing time for our students to find their independence and spread their wings to grow into well-rounded, self-reliant individuals.
