Advanced Learning Facilitator 2020-2021

welcome back

It's been great to see everyone again!  I hope you are all finding some sort of routine and a sense of being grounded again.  Here's what's going on in our GT groups for now:

•3rd and 4th  Graders were introduced to their Genius Hour projects this week.  They access this through google classrooms.  We also took the Topic 1-4 Cumulative Math Assessments.  This will help me to determine the amount of intervention needed during their classroom Math blocks.  I have assigned Challenge Math problems in their Tuttle/Landgrave/Sposato Google Classroom which will appear every few days as their class begins the lessons in our new Envision Math Program.  Classroom teachers have Math Enrichment worksheets that go with their lessons that they will be sending home as they work through Topic 1.

•5th Graders will begin work on their Growth Mindset Google Classroom this week.  They have completed their Topic 1 pretest in Math and will be getting Challenge Problems through their Google Classrooms on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I will set up a time on Fridays to meet virtually will them and discuss these problems.  Classroom teachers have Math Enrichment worksheets that go with their lessons they will be sending home as they work through Topic 1.

While 6th Grade is virtual, I will meet with Math ALP students on Wednesdays, 2:30-3:15 and Reading ALPs Thursdays 2:30-3:15.  I will be taking attendance at these class meetings.  I am posting all assignments through Mrs. Skoulot's and Mrs. Robert's Google Classrooms. Math students have the Topic 1-4 pretest to be working on.  It is due Tuesday afternoon.  This will help me know what students need to learn this year.  Literacy students will be workin on a Vision Board project.

As students complete their beginning of the year assessments (IReady, DRAs, Envision Pretests), I am collecting and analyzing these scores.  I will use this data and the feedback parents and students provided me with last spring to help create ALP goals for the 2020-21 school year.  If you and/or your child did not complete the response form last spring, I will be contacting you to set up a virtual meeting to discuss new goals.  2020-21 ALPs will be completed by 9/28, and I will share them with you at Parent Teacher conferences in October.
